OUR IDEOLOGY

Intergenerational Stewardship

Each generation holds the Republic’s institutions, public assets and natural wealth in trust for those who follow.

Definition

Each generation holds the Republic’s institutions, public assets and natural wealth in trust for those who follow.

Core principles

  • Maintain infrastructure and institutions rather than consume them.
  • Manage natural resources for long-term public value.
  • Avoid debt and commitments that transfer unreasonable burdens to future citizens.

Meaning for public policy

Intergenerational stewardship places long-term national capability above short-term political consumption and requires public decisions to consider maintenance, resilience and future obligations.

Institutional test

The principle should be applied consistently to SPP itself. Party organisation, candidate selection, finance and leadership conduct should reflect the same standard expected of government.
